Baker's Delight

One of the single most important parts of a meal meant to impress in the courts of the nobility was the presentation of the sweets. It showed off their wealth, generosity, and ability to find talent which they enjoyed displaying every way they could.

Well, we want to show off the incredible artistry and gift of the bakers in our beautiful area of the mountains. So we're inviting all the bakers out there to create a dessert centerpiece to be part of the Dessert Dash as well as samples/miniatures of your favorite to be also served to those with the meal vouchers that you feel most confidently show off your abilities. This is where our Baker's Delight competition splits into 2 different kinds of activities to decide the winners chosen through either the Taste Test vote or by the Dessert Dash Auction.

The Taste Test vote will be judged solely by all those who are also enjoying the Stone Soup feast (so be sure to get those meal vouchers!), as they continue on to enjoy the small dessert portions presented by each of the given bakers along with their meals. There will be a separate voting ticket to be used to vote for who carries the tastiest, yummiest treat (via cookies, cake pieces, pie slices, etc).

The second activity that is part of the Baker's Delight competition is all about the sweet displays which make mouths water and eyes sigh in anticipation which will happen at 7pm. For anyone who doesn't know what a Dessert Dash Auction is, be ready to bring your cash to the table to combine with everyone around you, wear a comfy pair of shoes, and enjoy those intensely incredibly confections! This is a special kind of event which combines the traditional thrills of a cake auction with the anticipatory fun of a race. Each group is asked to combine all the monies they are ready to donate to the Tabernacle to enjoy a shared dessert centerpiece between them. As the announcer calls out money amounts, the first table group who has that amount of money available will be able to take their group's cash and flag and race to stake their claim for their most anticipated dessert. Don't hesitate, though, for the announcer will continue to call those money amounts so the next table group will be racing right behind to try and scoop the most desirable dessert by staking their flag into the dessert before you can get there! The baker whose dessert is claimed by the highest donation is the one which will win this prize.
